ALBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
Winter Maintenance/Management 2016/17
Preparing for winter ..........
The local councils have been working together to try and ensure the best use of limited resources, in dealing with snow and ice.
Main roads....where necessary, the County Council will grit these in our Parish, being the A23, B2116, B2117 (Brighton Road).
Other roads......in severe conditions the Parish Council and the County Council will enlist the help of some local contractors and farmers to try and clear, but not necessarily grit, minor roads in the Parish such as Truslers Hill Lane, Church Lane, and Shaves Wood Lane.
Grit/salt bins.......these are located at (1) the south side of Barleycroft at edge of green (2) south side of Church Lane adjacent to Yew Tree Farm House, and (3) north side of Church Lane on bend opposite Oak Tree Cottage. In addition there is a supply in the Street near to the Village Hall.
These are available for nearby residents to use on pavements - but NOT for private use. You need only lightly sprinkle the grit - otherwise it is wasteful and adds to water pollution.
If you would like to volunteer to help clear the pavements when it snows, please contact the Parish Council using the contact details on the Contact Us Page.
